2024 Maritime Industry Day
The 2024 Maritime Industry Day, held on October 2nd at Albacore Park in Portsmouth, New
Hampshire, and co-hosted by the Manufacturers Association of Maine and Synergy
Workforce Solutions, was a tremendous success. Nearly 400 students from Maine and New
Hampshire Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Jobs for Maine’s Grads (JMG) programs engaged with industry leaders, toured the USS Albacore, and participated in hands-on STEM activities that highlighted the exciting career opportunities in the maritime and manufacturing sectors.
In addition to providing students with invaluable insights into these fields, the inaugural event also raised approximately $10,000 in scholarship funds to support students pursuing careers in these industries, helping to ensure that financial barriers won’t stand in the way of their education and training.
Feedback from both students and participants was overwhelmingly positive. Employers and training providers remarked on how genuinely engaged the students were. One school even asked to stay longer to explore more opportunities! All schools in attendance inquired about next year’s event, leading us to tentatively schedule the 2nd annual Maritime Industry Day for October 1, 2025.
